Holdfast Pictures is a Canadian production company dedicated to championing scripted dramatic work from exceptional storytellers. The company’s films have won awards around the world, including at the Toronto International Film Festival and Cannes Junior at Festival de Cannes, and have screened at venues from Berlinale to the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Marc Almon, managing director
Named one of the Next Gen: Twenty Young Stars on the Rise in Canada by the Hollywood Reporter, Marc Almon is one of the country’s most promising new producers. His debut feature BLACKBIRD, written & directed by Jason Buxton, won Best Canadian First Feature Film at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival, the Claude Jutra Award for Best Debut Feature from the Academy of Canadian Cinema, and the 2013 Grand Prix at the Cannes sidebar competition, Cannes Junior, among many other accolades.
Marc's latest production, WEIRDOS, directed by maverick Canadian filmmaker Bruce McDonald, premiered at TIFF 2016 and Berlinale 2017 and was nominated for six Canadian Screen Awards, winning Best Original Screenplay (Daniel MacIvor) and Best Supporting Actress (Molly Parker). He is developing a number of television projects, including MERCIFUL, a new series for Bell Media/HBO Canada from Giller Prize winner Lynn Coady.
Marc is a founder and former chair of Screen Nova Scotia, an advocacy group that champions the film, television and digital media industry in the province.
